It's better to budget your tickets as well.
From every paycheck set aside at least $100 and then try not to get a ticket till you save at least $300. Like everyone said, when you speed, you are bound get a ticket.
Radar detector is not everything, you need common sense too.
Radar detector will save you sometimes but sometimes you are on your own.
For example, if you don't slow down when you see a huge shoulder on freeway and then you even miss seeing the cop that is on that shoulder using laser, it's your fault, not radar detectors'!
Radar detector will tell you about K, Ka, Ku and X bands ranging from half a mile to two mile radius depending upon how good your radar detector is, but by the time it will tell you about a laser, the cop will have your pic, license plate and your speed already!
So buy a good radar detector(I have Beltronics RX65 Pro) and try to learn where cops can hide or not. If you don't give them a chance to give you a ticket, they won't
And don't ever tell cops that it was hard not to speed...LOL
No wonder he looked at you the way he looked.

My experience with Laser is that unless they are VERY good at hiding you can usually see them standing on the side of the road obviously shooting Laser before the detector goes off. I'm still more worried about instant on KA.
First dont EVER speed in Farmers Branch. The speed limit is about 35 thoughout the city and there's way too many cops for the size of the city. And to the guy saying a s2000 can out run a police interceptor....yea probably not. And even if you could you can't outrun a radio call to the cops waiting for you up the street.

Looking at the video, the officer didn't actually "ram the guy head-on", he simply put his car in the path of the bike. The police car was barely moving when they collided.
Sucks for the passenger, but the pilot of the bike got what he deserves.

I disagree. The officer ran into incoming traffic to stop a bike that had ran a red light? Yes, he did run a red light but there are many different scenarios that could've taken place. Was it a blatent red? Or a soft red where he missed the yellow light. On top of that, the officer drove into on coming traffic? What about the other people on the road who aren't involved? What if he had hit them?
Now I'm not saying that it's okay to run reds, but to go head-on to stop him seems like a pretty dumb move on occupied streets. To me this is the police abusung their power.
.. reply to PilotSi:
Did you watch the video?
The biker was evading arrest. There was another cop in pursuit that was unable to keep up with him, but the 2nd cop was ahead of him. The cop had his lights on, and there was very little other traffic on the road. The cop's maneuver did not endanger any other drivers.
If the biker didn't want to take the cop head-on, he could've just stopped when he saw the pretty red & blue lights.
I definitely don't think the cop was "abusing his power". I think he was trying to end the pursuit as quickly as possible. If you watch the other cop's dashcam, you can see that he was having to blow through stop signs and passing traffic in the oncoming lane in order to try to catch up to the biker. So, by taking the biker head-on, he brought the pursuit to an end, and prevented any other lives from being endangered.
Just as my own personal opinion... I would totally support a law that allows cops to "shoot to kill" any time a person makes a serious effort to evade arrest. Particularly if that person is endangering other people's lives (as is the case in any car/bike chase).

Ouch, that police video is pretty crazy.
I myself would never do anything like that, but I sure hope this guy had done something pretty crazy that they wanted him that bad.
The fact that both people on the bike are still recovering is just sickening to me.
Isn't there any other way to stop a bike rather than hitting like that. That just freaks me out.
I don't own a bike, nor would I ever pull a stunt like this guy did, but wow, that is just crazy.
I really want to know if all this guy did was run the red light, or was there something else that he had done previously? Was he a known felon or had prior charges?

The Aug. 25 collision injured the motorcycle driver, Derek Muzquiz, 25, and his passenger, Cynthia Arredondo, 31, of Fort Worth. Mr. Muzquiz spent a week in the hospital. Ms. Arredondo remains in a Tarrant County rehabilitation center recovering from severe head trauma.
"She's learning to talk again," Ms. Burcie said. "She's also trying to get her strength back. It's slow. We're concerned about getting her healthy again so she can start her life."
