My father, brother, and myself have had dirt bikes since I was 10, but since we haven't ridden them since '95, they are going to be for sale soon. Although they are old, and look it, they haven't been ridden more than maybe 20 times. I will have to double check the year models, but I have 2 '91 Kawasaki KDX 200's (2 stroke), and 1 '84 Honda XR 200 (4 stroke). The colors are badly faded, but they have been covered during their entire life in storage.
I brought them home last weekend, and pulled 1 of the Kawasaki's off of the trailer to start working on it. To my surprise, the damn thing started after only 4 kicks! I didn't expect it would start at all without a serious tune-up, but I drove it around my development for a few minutes, and it ran perfect.
I think the trailer is a Dilly, and has 3 bike rails. It is probably worth more than the bikes, since it looks pretty new.
I don't have any idea what these are worth, but if anyone is interested, let me know. Maybe I will get motivated enough to go ahead and give them the tune-up that they deserve.
I had hoped that the other 2 bikes would start as easily as the 1st, but they didn't. The 2nd Kawasaki took hours of kicking, fidling, and spark plug cleaning before it started. I actually dug a hole through my boot with the kick starter, and had to rotate to a hiking boot. Once I got it running, I took it for an illegal ride on the highway, and it ran great. The only actual repair that had to be made was to 1 of the fuel lines that was leaking. Anyway, the 2 Kawasakis are now trail worthy, and ready for sale. Someone so kindly PM'ed me with the "blue book" for these bikes at $1180 in good condition. Just to make it simple, I would like to sell these for $1000 each.
The oldest bike, the Honda XR200, was my project for today. Unfortunately, my right foot is so bruised from yesterday, I couldn't kick on it long enough. After 20 minutes, I called it quits. If someone wants to take this one as is, I'll sell it for $200. Otherwise, I'll hold on to it.
If anyone is still interested in the trailer, I am willing to sell it at any time for $400.
