What has the world come to? On, from what I heard, a relatively fast course, you guys let a good driver in a MIATA win the autocross? Damn, I'm ordering some race tires today.

the description of the miata is exactly dead on. GO KART.

It didn't even look like it had much suspension travel. Rods welded to the A-arms with bushings which was the suspension travel.

Not quite welded rods, but it does have some pretty high-dollar Konis under there. But hey, that car is still technically street legal. And you can actually order Miatas from the factory without a top - the '03 Club Sport comes with your choice of a soft top, or a hard top with soft top delete.

CMiS2k is right about one thing, though - I got my clock cleaned on Saturday. That was a definite horsepower course, with three long straights and one looooong sweeper that came off of the first "corner" and comprised basically 1/4 of the course. C'est la vie.

Between that and the ridiculously tight slalom before the finish, that was probably one of the less enjoyable courses I've run this season, even without losing money to CMiS2k.

Ouch... I had 4 "non-Iain" Miatas beat me.
That was definitely one of my worst performances in a while. I couldn't keep the nose pointed forwards. I think all those heat cycles from doing burnouts at the drag strip really made my rear tires crusty.

altiain,

as promised, we will go at it again at one of the SCCA TMS events this year.

can you order miata's with the go kart style seats that he has??

That was too funny to see, I never noticed the seats at previous events.

Works for me. I'll at least stand a decent chance against you on a more technical course. Or even one without 3/4 of a mile of straightaways.

Nope, can't order a Miata with a kart seat, but then you can't order one with the seat I use, either.

On another note, that'll probably be the last BMW event I run for awhile, at the very least. I've only run two of their events this season, and the courses at both have been very poorly laid out, imho. They do tend to be "horsepower courses", but that isn't my biggest beef - many of the technical elements they do bother to add (often in a manner that makes them seem like an afterthought) are so ridiculously tight that they make SCCA Pennington Field courses seem wide open by comparison. TO put it bluntly, they don't flow worth a crap. I don't know who's doing their course design this season, but he/she isn't doing the greatest of jobs, imho. PCA, SCCA, and you guys (NTS2KOC) put on much more enjoyable autocross courses.

How do you figure that since I am right behind you no matter what? I will beat you eventually, it is inevitable. Tenth by tenth, I have been catching up to you. This is number 4 of 9. We have 5 more to go buddy.

altiain,

the way you feel about BMW events is the way that I feel about Stan Whitney's 1st gear C5 SCCA course designs. low end torque and motor the car through the course. When Phil Osborne did the course design last year my times were competitive in ASP, there not even close now.

On the flip side SCCA courses have made me a better driver out of the hole. Ex. this last event a I threw down my fastest time on the 4th run. I have learned how to run the courses in fewer runs.

btw, I have been able to beat #7 in the last ER and SCCA courses. Which rebutals a statement that you made regarding my driving ability a few months ago.
