I usually cord Victoracers before running out of heat cycles. This is because I rarely autocross so my tires usually only see about 2-3 weekends worth of pure track use. Iain on the other hand goes to bunches of short autocrosses, which heat cycle his tires much more. I went through 7 sets of Victoracers last year; Iain probably went through 2 sets. So yes our opinion differs but that is because our perspective differs.
If the new V710 has only 2/3rds the tread of the Victoracer and is using the same compound as the Victoracer then it most likely will last 2/3rds the life of the Victoracer. If I were only going to be doing DE's this would be unacceptable.

This is part of Tire Rack's description

[I]In addition to looking like pro-level racing tires, ECSTA V710 tires perform like them as well, trading longevity for performance. Achieving the best performance requires that fresh ECSTA V710 tires be used as their performance level will drop off after a typical race weekend

David,

That does suck. I'm going to run a very limited number of autocrosses this year and focus on roadracing. Maybe, I should just stick with the Victoracers....

My last set of Victoracers lasted two roadcourse weekends and two autocrosses before running out of heat cycles. I certainly can't afford to have them wear out faster than that.

My Trans Am has eaten 32 tires in 33k miles, and is half way through another set.

If anyone else is interested in this event there are still a few spots open. The early weather report says it will be partly cloudy and in the mid fifties. Sign up now!!

David,

A friend of mine, Chris Avery will be running an '02 Viper RT-10. This will be his first track event. Make sure he doesn't kill himself or anyone else.

I think the weather forecast is going to hurt attendance. Only one of my friends is willing to come out, and he is regretting signing up.
