E85 conversion
Im not sure. They have so many different types of avgas or jet fuel. I know that in the airforce we use JP8 for all the planes now, some times we do have JP8+100. I dont think its sutable to run in a car period since is kerosene-based. I know those are two completly different engines. Im interested in running E85 mixed with 93 octane like a half in half mix. Since gas now has atleast 10% Ethanol. So now is do you think this http://www.change2e85.com is just a joke or do you think it really works.
Yeah, JP is kerosene basically - actually, not that different from deisel, from what I understand. Looks like you can get 100 octane "low lead" (but still leaded) 100LL, but unleaded avgases have octane ratings in the 80s.
Their conversion kit seems to be a fuel tuning computer, nothing more. While that might help with getting the proper a/f ratio (assuming they did their programming right) it doesn't address the issue of alcohol dissolving bits of your fuel system.
Depending on your application and goals, you're probably better off with a stand-alone water/methanol/ethanol injection system.

Totally agree with this thread as it relates to naturally aspirated. For turbos with electronic boost control and easily swapped air/fuel maps & ignition timing maps, it's tempting. Other than that scenario, not much benefit.

I have a friend that is running E85 in his '95 3000gt vr4 and said that he is getting more power and better gas millage, but that is with FI. The only thing that he said that he changed was the tune. And that change2e85.com kinda sounds like crap. It just looks like they sell you new fuel injectors, spark plugs, and some cold start thing. But if anyone tries it I wanna hear the results.
there was a huge thread on this in the mods section a month or so ago.... it was pretty much determined that the money you spend on converting your fuel system to handle it won't be saved in gas and you lose some mileage. there was some guy who had been running it for like 2 years after using a kit he found online to convert his fuel system but he said he lost 1-2 mpg and didn't notice much power difference. i wouldn't bother personally but you can search for that thread and read the like 10 pages of stuff

propane is cheaper and more beneficial than alky, meth, or ethanol anyway...
$4 to fill a tank that lasts a week or two, 110 octane, -60dF coming out of the nozzle...
its perfect
