Default Engine revving?

i got out off work and started the car and the CEL came on, i always let the car warm up... so i let it warm up till 3 bars and i was driving and i put it on neutral and the engine was revving didn't pass the 2k rpm, its like im tapping on the gas pedal constantly. Anyone had this experience before?

So the revs won't fall below 2000 rpm? But it drives okay?

Hmm, broken throttle position sensor?

exactly... it drives fine, when i started to drive it was weird every time i was shifting it felt like i was about to punch it, and then i thought i was not shifting right but when i put it on neutral i didn't pay attention to the gauges and then i was hearing the revving and i looked at it (while on neutral) it was revving (feels like im tapping on the gas pedal but it goes up like 2 or 3 bars stays below 2k rpm.... i am going to take it to a shop on friday, if i drive it like this is this really bad? probably over it right?

thanks elistan

Yeah, I think a shop is the best thing to do - a key aspect of figuring out what's wrong, I'm guessing, is to figure out the code to your Check Engine Light.

Your explanation is so poorly written, I can't really tell what you are trying to say. However, if you have a CEL, you can get Autozone to pull the diagnostic code for free (OBDII). The code will likely be for your TPS or MAP sensor.

BTW, letting a cold engine idle until it warms up to 3 bars isn't very good for the engine. Idling does not generate enough cylinder pressure to seal the piston rings tightly, so you wind up polluting your oil with gasoline and soot. The best warm up is to just drive it normally.
