Acura put in 80W90 Gear Lube MO, per my invoice. Had this done in July 06. My car has been through three events since then and 5000 miles and one Fall Colors drive to the absolute limit this past November . Whether this is the right oil or not, I haven't any other information other than the diff is performing its job. Could it be wearing badly and still perform well?

^ Yeah, that should do the trick. Many people here use Mobil1 75W90 Gear Oil in the diff.

I'm not sure how quickly the CRV diff fluid damages the diff, but I suspect you'd start having problems before a year.

Anyway, just keep that in mind any time you have someone else change your fluids. Some techs see "diff fluid" and think it's OK to put in the S2000 diff... but it's not.

We use 10W30 M1 in the engine, 75W90 M1 in the diff, Honda OEM MTF in the tranny, Honda OEM type 2 coolant and Valvoline Synpower DOT4 for the brakes/clutch.

I'm kind of lost--what do you mean by CRV diff fluid? That's not the Honda CRV is it? I don't think that has a diff. Does CRV stand for something else? I want to get this right, in case I need to change it out. Although, I think you said what I had was okay.

Yep, Honda CRV (the mini sport-ute). It's available in 4WD and does require diff fluid. Since there are more CRVs on the road than S2000s, the CRV diff fluid will be readily available at a Honda dealer, and many techs will just pick it up and use it any time they change the fluid in any diff. The diff fluid for the Honda CRV is not compatible with the diff in the S2000.

However, the fluid that is currently in your car (80W90) should be just fine. If you ever decide to do a fluid change on your own, I'd recommend using the Mobil1 75W90 Gear Oil (or similar fluid).

LE 607 in my diff. Seems to work well - car drives smoothly with no roughness or weird sounds from the diff.

I run LE607 as well on the track / autocross with no issues (other than the fact that it SUCKS getting that sticky purple crap into your diff ).

That stuff is super slippery and very viscous, that's for sure! Makes a big mess even if you're careful.
