Default I'm moving.......

Well, for those who knew my layoff situation, I was offered a job today. I'm moving to Savannah, Georgia sometime this month. I got a job working for Gulfstream Aerospace, so if anyone finds themselves in the market for a $50million buisness jet, let me know!

I flew down there wednesday and thursday, and I had a a chance to look around a little, and I'm kinda weary on the town. It's completely different than anywhere I've ever been. I don't think I really liked it, but I will make the best of it. I'll be sure to swing by this site occasionally and say hi. It was nice meeting some of you on the Fall Colors tour!

Oh yeah, and let me keep my badge, because I'll always be a North North Texan at heart!

Guess I need to become an iCEO...

Oh, and good luck with the new job and move!

I spent a couple days in Savannah on business once. There was a cool area right down on the river that had a bunch of good restaurants and bars but I don't remember what they call it. I wasn't too impressed with the rest of it though.

Best of luck with your new job and be sure to check in once in a while!

I've spent a lot of time in Savannah over the last 30 years. A great party town. I think you will grow to love it. The only downside is the humid weather - Houston like.

Savannah is a great city! You'll soon fall under its charms. Great driving roads in NE GA and Carolinas. Best of all you can eat at Mrs Wilkes's Boarding House whenever you want. Best food I've ever had anywhere in the world. It's listed in the book 1000 Places to See Before You Die. Also try Elizabeth on 37th.

Thanks for the restaraunt ideas! I'll definately have to look them up....and possibly take out a loan to eat at them too!

Oh, and be sure to rent "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" so you can pick up a bit on the local flavor (it's a dark comedy based in Savannah and based on true events with some embellishment, I would hope). I grew up in South Carolina but never made it down to Savannah - wish I had - looks like a beautiful city. Good luck to you.

My parents just moved from Savannah a few months ago after living there for a couple years. It's a really cool town. Hell, moving from Oklahoma, it's a major step-up. They have the 2nd largest St. Patty's Day party in the nation, lots of good restaurants and bars, close to Hilton Head, boating, you can walk around on the streets with drinks in hand, etc. I think you'll have a great time there. The only drawback is humidity in the summer and sand gnats. Though, it's the home of Roebling raceway (think MSR in Savannah), so your S2K will love it.

Enjoy!
