I guess that's my point of contention, that you are saving the tranny, in that it's the first line of defense in the shifting gears w out breaking stuff scenario

My analogy is basically that it doesn't take a strong arm to do a lot of damage with a heavy hammer, and it doesn't matter how strong your arm is, you're not going to do much damage with a small hammer. The flywheel and clutch is the hammer, and the engine is the arm.

00mugen- granny shiftin would reduce the wear and tear on the transmission, which is where the gears would "blow out from", not the diff
Granny shiftin is just a way of saying that you shift soft. I wasnt refering to the way you move the shifter from 1st to 2nd, but more of the way you engauge the clutch while changing gears. If you let it out slow, the disc will slip to reduce the shock. If your dumpin the clutch in each gear (or take off since thats when you will see the worst inpact) then it will strain your drivetrain more.

If you have a strong clutch, then usually the engaugement is alot faster, so it will send a stronger shock thought the ENTIRE driveline. In the S2k the diff is the weakest point.

That means, if send a strong enough shock though, the weakest point will break.

If you have a stock tranny and diff, your diff will go out before your tranny.
