S2KCA Affiliation
After discussing the issue with several members I'm in favor of joining S2KCA. The issue of double dues may be addressed by two levels of local membership. A social membership to NTS2KOC could be made available for a very reasonable amount. This would entitle those who wish to attend non-driving events or other occasions where club dues might be spent to participate. In this instance membership in the national organization would be encouraged but optional.
A full local membership (as in past years) would be required to participate in any driving event in addition to membership in the S2KCA. This is the only way I can imagine to hold track events, cover the related costs and secure insurance. In order to rent a track we must be covered by a policy like the one offered by SCKCA. The affiliation with a national group may provide helpful when we try to gain sponsorship to defray the costs of these events. Further cooperation of other S2KCA regional clubs in hosting events may further reduce the burden of insurance and other costs.
The key is that at least ten members must be willing to sign up for S2KCA. Some of us going to Ashville will automatically gain membership this month. Next we need to get our club account squared away to receive this years membership dues. We could prorate them or set May 11 as the start of our club year.
In return for the membership dues the club should organize some of the following: an annual track event (or more), monthly meetings, newsletters, e-mail notices/updates, membership cards, club website, weekend drives and access to club items like shirts/hats etc. With the cooperation of regional clubs we might share the benefits of membership with other S2KCA affiliates.
This is food for thought. Please share your views on this subject. I would like to complete this discussion with a meeting on the 20th or 27th this month.

I would encourage anyone interested to view the S2KCA by-laws. Just right click and "Save Target As" on the S2KCA link in Schattens message. You will need Adobe Acrobat reader to view the document. I am involved with some serious discussions of the details with Greg at this time and will post some replies as the details are explained to me.
