Slight noise after oil change
I did my oil change yesterday and I checked the oil and it was at about half way between high and low on the dipstick, figured it was fine so I started the car and I heard a noise and it kinda smelt like burning oil so I turned it off and checked the oil after a few minutes and it was right below the low on the dipstick so I put more in and the noise kind of went away but you can slightly hear it, I drove it once and it drives fine but the noise is still there.. I topped it off to the High on the dipstick and I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas what the noise was, thanks.
heres a video of the sound

Its hard to really recognize any noise from the video. Make sure you dont keep topping off your oil and measuring after running the motor. With a lot of oil still in the head you may end up over filling and stressing the seals of the engine. Let it sit for a few hours (i check mine every morning before leaving for work) so the oil settles back down the pan, then measure.
It could be your TCT but I cannot really tell. Usually that sound goes away/volume decreases when you top off your oil. Could be the valves too. When was the last time you adjusted them?

I haven't had a valve adjustment nor do I think that anyone before me has had it, the car has 40k on it now. I actually do remember this noise from my prelude and it went away after a valve adjustment, i'm just not 100% sure.

Like JSpd said, hard to tell from the video. But I'd assume it's the timing chain tensioner - it operates off of oil pressure, so the first startup after an oil change, where the engine is pumping all that oil through the drained passageways, can cause the timing chain to rattle because the tensioner doesn't have enough oil pressure to operate right away. That's why your dipstick reading dropped from halfway down to low - the oil getting pumped around.
Even with full oil though, some tensioners make the noise all the time regardless.
Do a search for "TCT rattle" or similar - you'll find videos with very clear recordings of the noise, so you can compare with your own noise.

You need to sand down the worm gear on the TCT. I modified mine and no problems so far. I uninstalled and reinstalled mine and it was not that difficult. The problem is that the worm gear becomes smoothed out and then starts to fail. PM me if you have any questions on this
