Default Using the spare

My wife took the car this morning because I needed the truck to pick up some lumber. Well she gets to work and calls me saying the car pulls to t he right and the tire looked low. So I drive out to the hospital, with our air compressor thinking it was just low. Instead the interior sidewall is blown - argh. Needless to say I took the tire off and put the spare on - in about 25 minutes. One word of warnign if you have to use the spare make sure you have a set of pliers around because the wingnut holding the spare is very tight.

As a side note for all you Ap2 owners the Firestone in Dallas on Preston has Potenza RE050 215/45R17 in stock if you need them.

What a way to start the day.

That sucks, that's why I usually keep a smaller floor jack in the trunk of my M3, makes life a lot easier.

Yeah, that's no fun... she didn't ruin the rim by driving on it thinking it was just low did she?

No the rim was ok...but when I got to the car the tire had wear everywhere from being driven with no air in it for about 3 miles. The jack in the s2000 is easy to get to and for a scissor jack real easy to use. The hard part was getting the spare out of the trunk.

A small floor jack is a good idea, I am going to keep my eyes out for one.

An FYI for those who haven't read it in the manual: The spare tire is ONLY to be used on the front... if a rear blows you're supposed to move a front tire to the rear and then put the spare on the front.

This is because the LSD forced to slip 100% of the time when the tires aren't the same size - this can ruin it.

I would just call Honda Care (The card you get when your car is under warranty).

I would had it towed to Firestone.
