The valve may drop but typically sticks. All of mine stayed in place after the retainers were removed. There should not be an issue if they fall down a bit or rotate.....but i will let Marcucci give his response

[QUOTE=marks_lude,Dec 4 2009, 09:35 AM] I know I'm not local, but Marcucci seems like the a pro at this.

valves in pushrod motors (retained the same way) do rotate during use.

i cannot imagine a dohc motor would be any different.

I got in two sets of AP2 retainers and cotters today, both of which are spoken for. No ETA on the additional sets I should be getting... I will post back when I have that.

Aftermarket parts are here and I will pick them up tomorrow.

Wow, $850, but man, what a setup that would make! Sick!

I'll need the AP2 upgrade on my AP1 since i'm on the heels of 100k, lmao. Keep us posted when you receive more sets of the AP2 stuff.

I still have to question why this is needed if you drive the car under normal conditions.

Peace of mind? Especially for when you don't drive under normal conditions, lol!

There are people online who have claimed to have driven the car "normally" (not racing) and not mis-shifted or over-revved the motor. That being said, all the examples I've seen personally were either mis-shifted/over-revved or had an unknown or questionable history that I couldn't verify for sure.

Based on what I've seen, it's primarily insurance, but I am suspicious that since Honda made a pretty radical design change, they actually saw failures that they considered their fault. Honda usually won't change stuff unless it is, like the 00-01 clutch "buzz" (changed the clutch disc) and the new 02+ oil bolt design.
