Thanks for all your advice. The guy is 20years old, it is his dad that is sorting out the sale for him. I have spoken to them both. His dad thinks he's an eejit for spending that much money on a car! He doesn't want his son travelling with over 15k in his pocket so suggested a draft. I took Gaz's advice and said that before I agree anything I would want to see a bankers draft faxed to me and will call to make sure it's genuine..

I agree with the rest of you that it shouldn't be treated any different than a UK sale. The only problem is there is more time to to and fro with a UK sale. I will no doubt take him to the bank with me to pay in the bankers draft.

Thanks again all of you. I will keep you posted.

If they won't wait for funds to clear with a bankers draft or cheque, I always do the transaction at the bank. They need to bring cash, we go into the bank and while we are the queue I enter all their details on the V5 and they pass the cash to the teller - saves on needing to count your way through 15k.

After the teller has paid the money in I give them the v5 and the keys and walk them back to the car.

Have done this a few times with no problems - can't see any flaws !

This is what i have done.I personally don't like drafts, if it is not genuine it can still be credited to your account, buyer takes the car then a few days later the bank calls you to say the draft is fake.
Alot of scammers work it this way i believe.
