Default Advice Needed.

Hey,

On my drive home from work today i suddenly noticed the car sounded and felt different, basically just sounded louder but as the drive progressed it got worse.

Sounded like a missfire at first but with no sign of engine splutter or bogging down, engine pulls fine. I can feel a knock force through gear stick and the clutch pedal, its worse pulling off but smooth at constant speed with the faighntest sound of a odd humming. Im at a loss to think if its engine or drivetrain issue.

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Got to try work some way of getting to XM now .

Martin

Kind of hard to diagnose sounds via a forum posting. Where is the sound coming from, what rev range, under power or idle or cruising, what makes it come and/or go, has it happened before, etc., etc., etc.

Its never happened before. It happens from setting off in first, thats when most vibration occurs and noise, but it never goes. becomes more of a hum at higher speed. wondering if maybe a uvj on propshaft

OK, more detail please. Full description of the noise, is it rythmic, steady, does it change, what does it sound like, rev range, etc., etc., etc. Basically pretend you are trying to describe it to a deaf person and then provde even more info.

Have you checked your tyres? Have you checked your wheel nuts are tight?

Decided to get it to local honda garage today.

invoice for diagnostic :-

HDS tests, Engine oil check, road test. Confirms crank noisy. Requires new engine.

Looks like il be garaging the car for a few years till i can pay for a replacement engine.

Ouch. That was quick AND painful. Bad news. Wonder what would happen if you drove it on the slippery, icy roads?

Given the other issues with the new cars and the price of an engine ... i'd be inclined to go out and have a proper moment!!!
