Default Advice needed, CD changer cable route help.

Hi all
I`m after an Alpine 7893R + KCE-865B.

I currently have a Sony XRCA430X headunit + CDXT69 6 disc changer. This was fitted when I bought the car. I also have the OEM Honda cassette unit which is unused.

My question....

I`ve just been looking in the boot and the changer is velcroed down, lifted it up, found the cable going to the left (as you look at the car from the rear (always a nice angle!)). Well, I then removed the spare wheel cover and stuck my hand in to the left and low and behold, could feel the cable again - from your ICE experience, what route do you think the cable then does (or could) take? down the left, through the tunnel? which way?

I want to sell the current setup on Ebay but need to retrieve the HU -> Changer lead and wondering, is this a major seat removal task? Then I can purchase JUST the Alpine HU and controller interface and use MP3 cds, purchasing an Alpine changer after, if I decide I need one.

Tips please all you audiophiles!

cheers

Col

My amp is in the same position as your changer.
I ran the power and phonos through the gap behind the passenger seat grille and down alongside the tunnel and round the back to the head unit.
If you flick the plastic covers up that are on the cargo net hooks behind the passenger seat you'll find the bolts that you need to undo to remove the grille cover. Once removed you can see if that is the route your changer cable takes. If not try the driver's side.

The push fit carpet pegs are easy to break so be careful when removing the carpet from the tunnel.
I have the Alpine/Honda CD changer fitting instructions somewhere. I think they came from a US car audio website. I'll dig them out or post the link if I can find them.

Thats useful to know. The changer is in the `normal` left hand side of boot. Feeling the cable through the wheel cover made it feel as if it was going to the left of the passenger seat, maybe in the carpet under the passenger door? I`m just guessing at this....feasible? I want to sell the current Headunit+changer but don`t want to get a buyer then not be able to remove the cable!

BTW if you wish to retro fit a multichanger, is the link cable prewired on 2002 model, if not is it easy to fit? -and which multichanger do I need. From what I can gather in the archives it's an Alpine unit?

The fitting instructions for the OEM changer are on H and A. This shows the standard route. If the cable is routed down the outside of the passenger seat, the only difference would be that the sill trim has to be removed to lift the carpet.
