gt750boy - you obviously still dont read, I never said it wasn't possible, I said you had to submerge the front end, Im talking specifically about the S2000, AS ITS AN S2000 SITE!!! If you want to start a new thread in the off topic muppet section, then be my "GUEST" , or go and build a rocket or a plane, as it seems to be the onlt things you havn't built!

Lots of love

Hi Vti Stu

Just to add my two penneth, I've been running an AEM CAI for the best part of a year, everyday in ALL weathers, I've never had a problem with it

on the point of protection for your filter, have you thought about a 'Pre Filter' cover such as:

http://www.injen.com/docs/products/listing.asp?pcc=rp

I've got a pre-fliter/hydroshield on my CAI and although it wont keep it safe if your fording rivers etc. it will keep daily rain, puddles or washing the car safe from water on/in the filter

I did wonder when you'd 'wade in' Guiness!!

Well, when I do have the cash to get an induction kit myself, I'll remember not to start a thread asking for advice... WW3 may just break out!

LOVE that noise!!!
Will just have to be airbox lid off for me this Summer I fear...

I try to keep out of these hydrolock debates because I don't want to tempt fate.
Mine's been on since I've owned it (5 months) and longer in the hands of the previous owner. I've driven the car in heavy rain with no issues to date but I steer clear of puddles and such like as even though I've no idea where the filter is actually located I dont fancy my chances.

I really cant see how rain could get past the filter and make it all the way up the pipe to the intake manifold - the flow would need to be very strong to make its way up that incline.

I used to have a vented headlamp lid on my mx5 and the filter was positioned behind the lid. Never had any problems with water ingress then.

Here's a pic of mine

However, i will say the filter got submerged in a rather large deep puddle for a very short period of time - I gaurantee in this scenario an AEM will cause hydrolock.
Meaning he drove it through a miniature lake.

Avoid driving it through a lake and take the precautions mentioned (block bonnet drainage hole and get a hydroshield) and you will be very unlucky to have any problems with an AEM.

No a deep puddle, approx 1/2Metre deep .

A hyrdoshield won't stop hydrolock in this scenario, the design and make up of water vs air.

Again these type of cai's won't hyrolock unless they are submerged for a short period time.

This is the exact one I've got, although it was soaked to the bone when I took it off.

Either way the V2 is off and I'm ont sure if I can be bothered to out it back on, looking for a short ram induction kit with cold air feed and some form of heat shield whether it be DIY
