Default Alarm Fob Programming

I know this has been looked at many times, but I cannot get things to work. I have a new Hamilton and Palmer supplied fob, and I need to put the system into learning mode. The manual says, disarm the system turn ignition on-off-on-off-on and press existing fob 3 times. The led and indicators should then show we are ready to go. Trouble is this does not seem to work. Is there a knack to this?

You may need a 'red fob' if its one of the originals. Without this you have to remove the board send it to Hamilton and Palmer and get it recoded and a new red fob. About

To the OP.

Are you using an existing (i.e. already programmed) handset - as you have described - to get to the 'learning' mode?
