Default ALARM PROBLEM

I unlocked my car this morning and the alarm started going off so I locked it again but it was still going off. the alarm goes off for about 7 seconds then stops for roughly the same amount of time then goes off again. When the alarm stopped I started the engine but it still went off with the engine running. What can I do to stop the alarm going off? Its a 2004 model.

On my 2000 model the alarm going off was a sign that the car battery was in its way out. Different alarm in 2004 cars so probably not much help for you.

I was thinking it could be the battery but there have been no signs that its on its way out. I might just buy a new battery and see if its works.

Thanks

Kwik fit or someone similar should be able to test yours

On my 04, it did that if I unlocked it (didn't open a door), popped the boot and then shut the boot just as it automatically re-armed. It happened to me a few times over the years.

I got my battery tested and the battery is fine so it must be the factory alarm that's playing up.

I had this after I arrived at work a few months back, opening and closing he bonnet seemed to do the trick ( I'd tried doors and boot first and that didn't seem to sort it out)

Mine did that about four years ago. I think the alarm module got confused when I opened/closed the drivers door and boot at the same time. Can't remember how I did that though. The alarm went nuts for about 5 minutes resetting itself and the siren wouldn't shut up whatever I did. It eventually sorted itself out though and has been fine ever since.

That used to happen on the Prelude - the bonnet sensor was corroded to fuck & kept shorting & so I rebuilt it with a lot of solder.

I could drive along with the alarm going off.

Changing the battery seemed to make the driver's door lock actuator work again.

All the faults were very rare/intermittent, so it was difficult to be 100% sure.
