Default Alarm Problem

Brand new S collected from Bob Gerards at the weekend.

On Christmas Eve I noticed that after the car was locked the alarm would intermittently go off. I've come to think that it's the Microwave sensor thingy.

I don't think it did it for the first 2 days and it might have been less frequent to start with but is now almost constant. It seems to go off every time it's set now and always between 30 seconds and a minute. I'm going to time it if I'm feeling really anal.

Since then I've tried setting the alarm with microwave sensor disabled (locking from the inside door switch with the outside drivers door handle raised) and this seems to stop it going off.

So I'm guessing that the Internal MW sensor is either fecked or has a loose conection. has anyone had a similar problem? I'd like to know where the sensor is and where it connects to so I can check for a poor conection / loose plug.

Anything else I should look at. Can't take it to a dealer until I've had it registered and to do that I've got to wait until the V5 arrives etc. etc.

I did read somewhere that the sensitivity of the microwave sensor can be set but I wouldn't know how to do that.

Maybe you have a spider in the car which is setting it off

If it is really windy (which it has been here) it can get set off by the roof being bblown about. otherwise it might just be a bit too sensitive. I'm not sure if or how it can be adjusted

I had a similar problem with my '06 S2000 over the first few days I had it. The alarm seems to work if there's an attempt to open the doors, bonnet and boot. Have you opened the bonnet since picking the car up? (The sales person had done this to show me the engine on handover, and I presume she didn't close it properly). Try opening it and letting it drop closed (something you need to do because of its lightness). I now drop it from around 45 degrees angle. I haven't had the problem since.

I'd be surprised if high winds had any effect on an '07 alarm, because the new ones seem to work on a different principle.

Good luck!

Pretty sure it's not the boot, bonnet or doors that are triggering it. in theory it should not set if any of those are open. Also I've timed it and it goes off exactly 30 seconds after locking.

The only exception is if I disable the internal sensor. then it will lock, arm and not set off the alarm. which points towards a problem with the sensor, its sensitivity or the wiring between it and the alarm control unit.

I've still haven't been able to find it in the cabin.

Annoying but I can live with it until I can register the car for warranty work, I now have the V5 just waiting for the invoice from the supplying dealer.
