Default Alarming

Bet that subject got your attention didn't it?

But really this is about the central locking / alarm etc.

I had two styles of keyfob when I picked up my car - one was long with a rounded top and bottom and had three buttons - one for lock, one for unlock and one to open the boot. This control is the one that is featured in the user manual

The other, is smaller, squarer and has two buttons. Apparently, this is the one that you get when the OEM alarm is installed in the UK.

However, I can't find any information on it - I am using this one at the moment, and am a bit puzzled by its operation - sometimes, if I (slowly) double-click the unlock button, I can open the boot as well. Other times, the car unlocks and then tries to unlock again.

When locking, the indicators flash 4 times in succession. If I press the lock button again, the indicators flash 3 times quickly - what does this mean?

Does anybody have any idea about this?

Thanks

Alex.

You should have had a little instruction book with all the rest of your paperwork. Have a moan at you dealer!

I don't have the manual to hand but from memory;

yes it's supposed to unlock the boot, but I've found it to be a bit hit and miss as well. I think you have to time it just right.

That disables the interior ultrasonic detectors so you can leave your windows down and not set off the alarm...or in my case stop the alarm going off at 1am 'cos it's raining I think I read somewhere that the detectors are automatically disabled with the roof down.

Hope this helps

Alex.

I'll contain my response to your Honda square remote.

Arming the alarm on the raised button results in 4 flashes of the indicators.

Pressing the button again after the 4 flashes results in 3 further flashes which means the internal sensors are switched off should you wish to leave your Doberman in the car (With the roof up that is)

The internal sensors are automatically disabled on alarming the car if the roof is down.

To disarm the alarm press the indented button and watch the flashes. Within about 3 seconds of the last flash, press the indented button again to pop the boot open.

HI Alex,

If you want a copy of the instructions and don't get any joy from Honda I still have my copy somewhere around the house. If you PM me your address I'll photocopy them and send them to you.

Thanks for the replies - I will try and get my Honda dealer to dig out a manual for me.

Failing that then I might take up tnt's offer of a photocopy, if that's OK? I'll meet all costs...

Thanks again!

Alex.
