Default ALpine Head Unit

Spent most of yesterday blasting round Hertfordshire for work - which was a pleasure (except for the rain!).
Got a new head unit and ipod interface fitted in the afternoon. I went to pick my car up 2 hours after dropping it off, the guy had installed the interface, dash controller adaptor, bluetooth kit and new Alpine 9847R HU.
All well and good till i look at the head unit which is sticking out half a mile!! I said to the guy thats a joke - it looks appalling, its not flush, the stereo cover doesn't close, its a pain to take off every time, coz the stereo trim comes with it!

Taking it back this afternoon to get it sorted, but would like to know if anyone else has experienced probs installing an Alpine - i.e not fitting properly????? and should the stereo cover close properly also?
Any suggestions?
Forearmed is forewarned!

p.s fab having the ipod in the car!!

The Alpine head unit should fit correctly but it is a bit of a tight squeeze to get all of the wires, including the KCE interface, into the spoace behind the headunit.

If you are around Hertfordshire today and still got problems give me a shout as I will be working on my car most of the day today

Thanks mate but in West End all day.
Was only in herts yesterday for work.

Hendon Car Stereo, London NW4 are to be shamed. I'm sure its a one off and put it down to the guy that installed that just didn't seem to give a hoot. Tho the manager took a lot of convincing even to look at it, once he had he then agreed it wasn't right.

P.s i have searched the forum and FAQ's already.

A tight fit for aftermarket HUs must be common for a number of Hondas. Hade the same problem with my old ITR when I first got that, having asked the main stealer to swap in my own HU. Went to collect the car, and stealer claimed it wouldn't fit, sticking out a good 1/4 - 1/2 inch. Took it home, 15 mins of amateur gropage behind the unit, tucking all the bits away - perfect fit!

Laziness...

They fit nicely, but like Steven says, the wires are a bugger to stuff in behind the unit - it is tight. I'd say he just rushed it

My Alpine has a tilting face - if you have it tilted at all you can't shut the cover. Are you sure it wasn't just tilted?

My recently fitted Alpine HU fits perfectly with the dash and ipod interfaces and I can shut the stereo cover no problems...

You're right to get them to sort it...
