That is quite bad. I suspect it needs to be chopped out. Sanding, priming and painting will not suffice.

Cheap repairs don't last and are a false economy.

So you would recommend getting it done properly?

It seems that even if i get the garage to rub it back then paint it, it will come back anyway... so whats the point? I assume the only real way to get rid of it, is to remove it... :/

At the moment, i think i may just rub it back on the passenger side and waxoyl over it. Then get the garage to do the driver side.. and paint it properly?

I had some on mine done for £150 about 6 months ago, and there's just a hint of a rust spot coming back. The guy wouldn't even give me a guess as to how long it would last and made me promise not to come back and complain. But that was on the wing under the filler cap; my arches are actually okay.

If you don't want to pay £510, you probably don't want to pay to have it all chopped out and replaced. And even then, welding in new bits creates a weakpoint for future badness.

It will be a case of re-shaping & letting in good metal, as wheel arch repair panels aren't available for S2000s.

If you google it for Preludes and Civics, there are plenty. And you can see the amount of work...

It's either that, or don't bother. Rust will always creep around under fresh paint.

Ah ok....

Right well i have spoke to someone in Newcastle that i was recommended by a detailer i know. He has worked on S2000s before and is going to have a look. He worked on a yellow supercharged one with a similar issue from up here in the North East... Raz? Or a similar username, not sure.

I have some rust in a similar place, and was quoted over 400 for the repair on one side. I'm just tidying it up for now to try and slow it down

Have you tried just cleaning it up to improve it for now?
