Default Audible warning on side lights

Hi,
I don't know whether my car should have an audible beeping warning sound if I turn off the ignition with the side lights still on? Currently if I turn off the ignition I get no sound if the lights are left on, is this the same for everyone? If there should be a sound does anyone have a clue as to what and where the problem might be?

Just checked mine (also a 56 plate) - the standard continuous 'lights on beep' sounds for both side lights and headlights.

There is a little connector under the cowl covering the ignition - that's what connects the lights on warning to the main buzzer. Mine is disconnected

Mine is disconnected because it annoyed the hell out of me - same reason the seat belt one is no longer connected. I find the noise both intrusive and unnecessary

Paul, is your interior light working when you open the door too?

Mine was the door switch, it needed some wd40 in it and moving about - gets dirty in there I think.

Worse still on newer cars (including Hondas) are the up and down arrows on the rev counter to tell you when to change gear, that would be the first thing to go, possibly using a hammer!!!
