there was an S2000 at Snetterton over the weekend that had a sticker in the same place you have got one just below the door towards the back wheels. The car wasn't on track it was parked with the show crowd
hope you get it tuned and on the road soon

A well seasoned tuner/mapper shouldn't rely on the OEM knock sensor. Some of the harmonics of the engine, the OEM can mis-interpret as knock.
In ones humble opinion, the widebands and gauge is a good visual aid for those who haven't heard knock or pinking. Particularly when running forced induction.

AJ off topic I know but I have seen quite a few maps with knock control disabled on the S2000 but I know you were always keen on it. Is it a case of people not wanting to make the effort of setting it up correctly?

Romain didn't enable my knock sensor, as he basically said the OEM sensor is not very good, plus by the time you detect actual knock with it, you're already causing damage. Hence its tuned for specific fuel. I've got another 'emergency' tune for 95ron.

Basically on a modified engine the original settings go out of the window.
TBH the AEM is not brilliant with fail-safe but with tweaking it can be made better, engine damage can happen in seconds depending on severity but dealing with it can help especially if you have only just noticed it. I'd rather reduce/stop the effects than do absolutely nothing and this is why i use it, for example if you were on the cusp.
Detonation will tend to eat the water jacket and piston crown.
I'm going to disagree with Romain, saying its not very good isn't quite right I'd agree more on a track car that is subjected to more sustained abuse. Agree on specific fuel, my car would detonate on 97 ron.
People say the IAT sensor is not very good on this car - it is very good when its not heatsoaked for example and is in the best place on pre 06 cars, all depends on your view/context.
TBF most people wouldnt know when knock is occuring.

a teething issue
i noticed these bits on the garage floor
oops
stripped that side and got new pads, no obvious issues, the caliper is very free so i'm guessing this is a pad which has maybe seen a lot of heat in its life.. anyway, new pads will go in today and back on the road hopefully

Cant edit my first post but glacial progress
Brakes
Earlier this week the rear pads fell apart. New pads £25, the calipers both free so i'm assuming the pads have been overheated in the past. Red stuff.
Exhaust
Noticed the car was quite fumey, this skunk2 was blowing at the rear joint. £20 at Mr Tyre.
Next up, logging runs for AJ
