Default bag of nails

I've only ever listened to my car from inside, and only ever listened to other S2000s when following them from within my car, which all sounds pretty good and how a sports car should sound.

I cycle through London traffic every day, my route takes me through some nice parts of town and I often end up following or more often overtaking some nice cars. This evening a nice white Lambo spider down The Mall, sounded alright but nothing exciting even when he pulled away at the lights. The worst are the Porches common as muck and they all sound nasty, I was following a 2010 911 turbo this morning and it sounded like a bag of rusty nails.

Tell me ours don't sound so bad from outside the car.

Porker sound is rough, and I like it

Aquired taste I guess. Bit like a tinny M3. I like it.

S2000 sounds like a micra as standard

The S2000 just need something a little bit more to make it sound special.

I think the flat six in Porkers, even the little one in the Poxter/Gayman, sounds great but the rasp of E46 M3s sounds sh1t. I agree that the S2000 on tick over sounds rubbish, just like most four cyclinder engines.

Chris.

It's following them at town speeds the Porkers are so bad. perhaps it's because I'm following them right behind their engine covers they really do sound like a clapped out beetle.

Following a Ferrari is always good even though they're not likely to give it the beans down Picadilly in the rush hour, same goes for Astons. Never followed an S though.

I gave a 6.2L AMG some beans around the track last week, I wish the S could sound like that

I'm happy with the way the S2000 sounds...I don't have "engine note envy"

I've never heard a 4 pot that sounds very exciting. And I've never been that keen on the "Porsche sound" much either.

My S sounds like it's being fuelled by a bag of old spanners at times I do have "engine note envy".

I *do* have engine note envy.

I love the BRAAAAAP sound of my S, it makes me grin.

I then hear my friends SL55, and feel puny.

I also heart the flat / straight 6 rasp from BM / Porsche. Prefer it to the singing one hears from a Vee (such as an Alfa). I think because they sound angry, and I like that.

I have always ben of the opinion that the engine was not exactly in the sewing machine class, to say the least a tad harsh.
