Default Before or after supermeet?!

Ok, i have to get my full 3-year service done in September but can't decide whether to get it done before or after the supermeet. I am inclined to get it done after for several reasons:

1) i love the feeling of getting back into a fully serviced car and it feeling that little bit "tighter", the supermeet drive will totally "loosen" the car up again.
2) i remember how ragged the car felt after the last Wales drive and i don't want that straight after a full service!!
3) given point 2 - i'm sure the car will need a good going over after the next Wales drive...!

What do you reckon guys??

After ! They can then look at any problems that crop up during the meet plus fit any equipement that you spot on other cars and like the look of, eg spoilers etc.

- Why are you guys talking about the SuperMeets as if they were a cross between the Le Mans 24 hour race and the Acropolis Rally! - ..... "I remember how ragged my car felt after the last Wales drive?"... and.... "They can then look at any problems that crop up during the meet ".... What's that all about? (a) we only did around 160 miles and (b) a good chunk of my 18,500 mileage to date has been driven in Wales - just as I drove at SuperMeet1, and my car has never felt "ragged"

People are going to get worried, thinking that they need to bring pit crews and support vehicles if you go on like that!

Damn right! We did 3500 miles round europe at a harder pace than the Supermeet without the car missing a beat! Its only a blast down the road to the shops in comparsion!

Steve, I am in a very similar sitiuation - my car currently has travelled 16,789 (aprox ) miles - I do near as danm it 1000 miles a month, so the car is booked in to Geo Collins on 11th Sept for the 18000 mile service

(PS - that was the earliest date Geo Collins had available (with a loan car) when I called last week )

Mine will be going in for it's first service sometime in August. It's up to 7000miles now and will be well past the 9K before the Supermeet, so I don't really have a choice. Having said that, I'd rather have a sump full of fresh Mobil 1 and all the spark plugs torqued correctly prior to a gentle cruise around the Valleys

Well I have 20,750 on my clock and I had tje 18,000 service carried out at 17,400 miles, immediately prior to a 2,500 mile blast to the Pyrenees and back just a month ago. I have to say, in all honesty, I didn't notice any real difference in the car after the service compared with before (except that the oil was cleaner); it drove brilliantly, just as it's always done

Pete, you might have did 160 miles but I did nearer 700 that weekend

I have a similiar thought RE: rear tyres, In 3000miles or so I'm going to need to replace to keep them in 'the zone' (they'll still have 2-3 mm of full tread left then I'm guessing, the meet is 6 weeks so I'll have done a thousand and a half maybe before adding another 800? (Longer route )

If I'm worried about the conditions e.g Rain on ~3 mm tyres (SO2's) , I'm going in the slow group, nice and dry ~ quick group, or if I bring a passenger ~ the middling group.
Can I do this on the day Pete or do we need to organise this earlier.

My only moment on the meet was that left right kink (maybe 50 mph ish?)with the road 'missing ' in between I think most of us went FVCK ME

You must have read my lips!

Actually I think I said it after I'd negotiated the kink, my synapses didn't have run time to waste verbalising my thoughts at that point
