Default Best N/A mods

I was told by someone that because these engines are so finely tuned from the factory there's not much extra power you can get out of them without going forced induction.
Just wondering how true this is or what the best mods are to get more power keeping it N/A
Exhaust, induction, Can you remap them?
Thanks

Yes it's true, Honda did the best job possible with NA. There's no more than a handful of BHP to be had.

richmc is right - it costs £££ to make any decent gains. I probably spent the best part of £3.5k (maybe 4k) in bolt on mods on my previous S - ECU, exhaust, throttle body, polished and ported intake, CAI, decat, Manifold. Sounded good, responded well, but not worth nearly the money of a supercharger in low tune!

I gained ~40 with itb's, hytech cams, j's exhaust manifold, toda tapered decat, toda 70mm dual exit, spoon head gasket and haltech ecu.

Cost? Don't even want to think about. Many invoices for over a grand though.

Car it fantastic to drive though.

You sure?

Mine was running 310 bhp NA at one point. It's about 285 now.

Probably 90 bhp over standard given they only really have 220 at the most.

I will probably just do suspension, brake and cosmetic mods for now then. Seems like a lot of effort to squeeze minimal extra horses out of the car, I will get round to it eventually though!!
