Default Best Xmas present ever!

Collected my new S2000 on Jan 4th. What a wonderfull car but not a great week, snow, ice and rain, after reading comments on winter driving have been taking it very steady, so far only one small rear end twitch.

Service book shows 1st service 12,000 miles on 12 months, is it worth oil and filter change sooner. Recon on doing 6 - 8000 miles year. Views please.

Your mileage is about the same as mine. The problem is there's an addititive in the oil as your S comes from the factory, molydbdenium (sp) LOL: which aids the bedding in process. You'll lose that if you do an interim oil change.

Once you've switched to fully synthetic then you could do the interim change if you wish. I use Mobil 1 though and it's still pretty clean after 12 months.

Check that sevice interval! Unless it's changed it should be 9K miles or 12 months.

Hey, battle16; welcome to the board

I change my oil and filter every 4,500 miles on the basis that clean oil is a Good Thing (there are optional "stamp here" sections in the service book for this) - I reckon it also helps to prove how much care you take of it when you come to sell the car

Hello battle16

You picked your new car up only a couple of days later than I did! I know what you mean about not getting many decent driving days since then - I've just got back from a 3 hour gentle drive round mid Sussex with the top down, heater on and lots of woolies - MARVELLOUS - but my nose did look a bit like this smile afterwards !

Cheers!
