Default Bonnet Catch Problem

My bonnet catch is no longer working.
I pull it from inside the car and it pops open, but it's not locking back down.

I can manually push the cable back through the hold from the drivers seat and it will close and latch, but I have to do this every time.

I presume some sort of tensioning spring is knackered.
Does anyone know if there's an straightforward fix for this without dismantling the entire front end of the car>

If the spring is broken, which is what happened to mine, you need a new bonnet catch - £30-£35 from a dealer.

There are two springs, so it's easy to tell if that's the case.

Great Thanks,
I'll do some screwdrivering this weekend.

I assume that even with a knackered spring the bonnet is still held safely when clipped right down.

Anything tricky about the catch in general to be wary of?
Do I need to dismantle the catch to release the cable or does it unclip easily?

hi Rob, just looked in the pdf manual in the faq, looks like an easy one half a dozen screws, If its a spring it might be worth asking at the local (not Halfords) motor factor rather than paying out for the whole thing and looks like the cable slots out.
