Default Bonnet catch spring broken

As above, the larger of the two bonnet catch springs has rusted through and snapped where it hooks at its lower end.

Honda tell me that the spring itself is not available and that I need a whole new catch unit at £30

I've searched but can't find anyone who managed to source such a spring elsewhere. Any ideas please?

Thanks for that. Fortunately, I've managed to get it closed again so will be ok til next week when the part arrives, but I was hoing for a cheaper solution in the meantime...

It was ood when the bonet started to bob up and down on the M25 the other day. It was ok after I closed it again properly, but having just done an oil check I realised something was amiss.

This happened to mine too. I replaced the spring with one I had knocking around the garage it worked ok but the spring didn't have quite enough tension so I had to buy the whole unit.

£30 is cheap, but it just seems a bit strange and wasteful to have to replace the whole unit when a simple spring will enable a fix.

Ah well, ordered from the dealer now...
