I fitted it all at the same time, the struts have been on order since April and the spacers were going to be the first try, I also looked into getting the original bonnet stamped with louvres. The vented bonnet was more of an impulse.

I think this is your problem. I also fitted the cheap ones, and they're perfect. What's the point buying expensive when it's only there to hold my bonnet up? But I would fit them with the ball facing away from the engine bay as it states. Just going from images in my head I can't imagine it going well if you use the brackets backwards.....
i did try but you could see the bracket touching the wing channel, the way i have them they miss everything, i honestly cant see this being the problem as it made it better when i did this.

i was considering doing the spacers, i have just removed the rubber trim that runs across the back plastic cover this in effect opens the bonnet to allow air out (same as the spacers) it also allows the heater intake to take hot oil smelling air and bathe the interior in it, if no strip drops the temp i will fit a shroud around the intake only, i personally don't mind the smell but i suspect the verbal brake might not appreciate it.
keep me up to date on all your tests, im surprised the vented bonnet didnt cure it
I've removed the rubber strip too but haven't noticed a smell coming into the car, yet, not using the heater too much at the mo, lovin' the verbal brake comment.

I had the sokietech ones too, they seem to label them up wrong ie Left and Right mixed up.

When i fitted mine as labelled they fitted okay but were more flush when swapped.

Also make sure you cover them in oil as they will rust otherwise.

I have a pair and so did Ron. His affected the shut lines. We stared at them both side by side for ages before releasing his ball joints were back to front. Mine are fitted as per the instructions, not upside down or with the ball joints reversed.

Carrie did a thread on them for a group buy a couple of years back.

Quite a few pics in there, mine are fitted as per instructions, although I did question that at the time.
