Default Brake Caliper/pad Carrier Shrank?

I was changing the rear disks/pads in preparation for selling the car but the outer rear pad on both sides has stuck into the carrier. I've got several pads, OEM, OES, and Ferodo, and they all seem slghtly too big. Now this didn't use to be the case so I can only assume that the carrier has shrank. Any idea why this would be? And has this happened to anyone before?

Excessive heat cycing would be the most obvious cause. Never happened to me, but then I have never tracked a car as often as you seemed to have.
