These guys seem to have some innovative ideas as well:

I'd be a little concerned that it might bugger the paint though
It appears that as I read Andy's story my car was also being done.
Who'd break in to an old Escort???
Left it as I normally do (train station car park) and when I came back to it in the evening the lock had been forced and entry had been gained. Nothing stolen, go glass smashed and the golf clubs were still in the boot.
A lady's car next to mine had also been broken in to, they however messed up her ignition so she had more trouble getting home. I suspect I had the luck of having so little petrol in the car (chugged to the garage on the way home) that they didn't think it was worth it.
Anyway, MRII cheered me up, needless to say, I am never using the carpark again. C2C line BTW, very dodgy.
Often.
Often, that is terrible - glad the worst wasn't done.
From this thread alone it is obvious that car crime is far worse and far more frequent than I originally thought. Coupled with the numerous carjackings around London which were recently publicised it looks as though too little is being done to address car crime.
After your house, your car is usually the most expensive single item you own. Does anyone else think greater efforts should be made to prevent it instead of concentrating on speeders ?
It seems the penalties for car theives range from nothing to a little chat.
For speeding its money, points, more money, more points, a ban etc etc.
Luckily I haven't been too badly affected by either yet but am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely ridiculous ?

I think some guys in South Africa actually use some kind of electric schock system.
Was it Demolition Man where they have a violent end to a car break in guy?

There's a real device for sale in South Africa that shoots flame up and out from the sills below the doors, if someone's trying to get in. Very illegal over here of course.
