After putting my foot down, in 2 - 3 gears to 9k I'm getting quite a heavy smell, like a burning smell.

Am I right in thinking that smells from the cat are more like egg?

So i'm thinking this might be the clutch?

Maybe i'm being too progressive with the clutch when changing gears, and I need to lift up the clutch more aggressively?

My S smells 'warm' when I've been doing a lot of VTEC, but never burning

I get quite a distictive smell after hard driving. Nothing like clutch burn though.

I get a smell after VTEC'ing too.. although it normally only comes from my passengers underwear..

i had this recently - tracked it down to a small amount of oil i had spilt when filling it up - i tend to have to put say 200ml in ever so often and i dont have a funnel... should buy one really !

Burning smell, - like metal getting very hot.

I got this smell from putting my foot down to 9k in 1st, 2nd, and up to 7k in third, - slowed down, - smell present.

I'm still getting used to the car, so I was wondering if I was lifting up the clutch too slowly, - although that might be a complete load of ********.

no burning smell here but my left knee often gets very warm

pull over and get your head under the bonnet and ' sniff ' also check the oil make sure there is enough of it - and not to much and if you can see any aroudn the engine that could be causing the smell
