I used on of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tripod-mou...item43b289359c (the bit clamped to the tripod, not the actual tripod) - which screws into a normal camera mount. It worked pretty well.

Thanks for all your input, guys. I've been inspired to make my own mount, and so far I've dismantled an old tripod for the top fixing. At the weekend I'll look at ways of securing it to the top of the secret compartment. If this doesn't work I'll be getting one of the low level Modifry mounts.

That looks like a good option, is there a recommendation on what mount could be used that has the camera mount screw that could then be mounted to where the wind deflector is? The Modifry mount looks like a good option but Id like to make a cheaper DIY alternative.

I'm not entirely sure what you are asking but I simply screw the Ebay mount into my Modifry one. You could use a copy of Winfreak's photo above.

I shot this video on an S2 but hadn't quite figured out how to get the mount level, it can be done though.

I use the Modifry low profile mount with the top half of an eBay phone tripod to secure my phone. Used it in Germany a few times, the mount itself is perfect giving a good perspective, the only trouble I had was with wind noise when recording.

With regards to wind noise, just tape some cotton wool over the mic. It doesn't look the prettiest but works

Ah, I was going to try some foam, cotton wool sounds a better idea!

For track use I've mounted my gopro on the helmet :

- You can turn it on/off when you want
- You can reallty see the driving work / the speed, and analyse it
- You can hear you and the passenger
