Default Camera van

Don't worry, it's not another 'it's not fair' complaint. If I've been snapped, then I'll take it on the chin. The only thing I don't like is waiting nervously to see if anything arrives in the post, so I want to prepare myself for the worst/give myself a bit of hope..........

I passed a scamera van on a dual carriage way on the way home. If Hants fuzz/safety camera partnership, or whatever it is they call themselves, apply the 10% +2 guidline I should be OK; anyone know if they generally follow the policy or are they rigid 70mph enforcers?

Also, I know the cameras have a range of about 1000m, but do operators generally set them pointing at a particular spot and let it snap away, or does the operator actively move it to target vehicles and can it cover both lanes of a dual carriageway at once?

Finally, do operators aim for the area where cars come into view, or do they measure speeds when you get closer to the van?

Just curious, so any thoughts welcome.........

I was once 'following' a 911 and we both went past a camera van. I realised it was potentially serious and was dreading waiting 2 weeks so just phoned them up. Explained I may have been temporarily over the limit and was kicking myself.. She checked the files for my reg and told me I was in the clear but to slow down next time Made me sleep better. This was Kent and they did confirm that they used the 10%+2

I doubt very much you will get a letter for doing under the guideline 10% + 2 or whatever it is. If so they would be nicking every other car!

I had a similar experience last summer when i saw one on a bridge on the M4 and had no letter.
