During a recent trip in Switzerland in a hire car I was apparently caught in a radar trap. Just had a letter from Zurich City Hall asking me to pay CHF40 for speeding.....52 kmh in a 50 kmh limit... I kid you not!
I will of course send the cheque by return.
Do you think they will come after you? I've just got back from a long continental "tour" and was amazed by how many cameras there are now. At one time France was clear but there are one or two springing up and in Germany they seem to have one in EVERY village-and there are no speed limit signs, you vill slow down fur der village signs oder du getst a big fine I was half expecting a ticket when I got home simply as sometimes you just get caught out entering a village, maybe on a steep down hill, and them wham speed camera. I'm off on my bike now but last radar trap I struggled to get 15mph. Must try harder!

Okay, so I was over the speed limit. No excuse. Illegal.

Saw the radar, stopped as requested.

"That was 32mph, sir", he says.
"32. Really?" I said
"The 30mph sign was 400 yards back", he says
"400. Right."

No traffic, no kids, no houses, no nothing. 2mph over the limit.

I should have been given a medal, FFS.
Look you broke the limit..live with it

Why is it a 30 limit if indeed it is as you described, did you miss out the old people home? Nursery, road where 30 people were killed on it last year, eh, eh, EH ,EH?

Bloody sheepshaggers....

Nah, I spend a LOT of time in Germany and have had my portrait taken several times. Counted 6 flashes on my last trip. As long as you are in a UK reg car they wont go to the bother of coming for you. If you are stopped however its a different story They compute the "Warning Charge"....(fine in English )according to your speed. They then have a neat trick....they double it! unless you have a permanent address in Germany.
No points though as we do not as yet have a reciprocal arrangement with them.

EU knobs are already discussing sharing driver info to allow fines/points to be shared across Europe

You can bet DVLA will implement this to the letter of the law, unlike the ers in France, Spain & Italy

That gives you a few more years to test French speed laws
