Is CEL On an MOT FAilure?
Wondering if anyone knows if having a CEL on during an MOT is a failure?
As you may have guessed I have the CEL on and having read the code its:
P0135 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
Now my code reader also has some graph options for the likes of the throttle position, RPM and coolant temp etc along with a readout from the O2 sensor. This graph appears to show the sensor working (minor changes in the voltage while in idle only) so I'm assuming as the code refers to the heater circuit then I'm pretty safe for a while, until I have enough pennies for a new O2 sensor. This is a hard fault as it appears every time you start the car, despite clearing the code.
Only problem is my MOT has expired and before I fork out for an MOT which will fail due to the CEL I thought I'd better check the collective brains.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

It won't fail simply due to a CEL. The problem that has thrown the CEL might cause a failure though, if it's affecting the emissions or something. Could be wrong there, TBH. I'm not an expert.
I've had a CEL due to my secondary O2 sensor for a while now, and it has got through 2 MOTs without issue.

Can't help much.. sorry
but the DVLA (or whatever they call themselves) have the test details on their site:
http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/doit...lsandguides.htm
It might not be a fail in itself but the cause of the CEL might also generate a failure on emissions or it might just make the inspector take a deeper look.

Just a quick update:
Got round to getting an MOT and passed with no hassel . As was said earlier the CEL on has no direct impact on the MOT but could have affected the emissions.
The best part is the light has gone out all on it own, not sure why but thats £168 saved or £300 in honda money.
thanks again peeps.
