Centre Cubby Hole Stuck
Not sure on the exact name for said item, nor could I find anything upon searching...
On the facelift AP1 where you press a button and a lid slides back to reveal a 6-7inch cubby hole in the centre of the car. All was good until yesterday morning when it decides it won't open anymore. You press the release button and it'll slide back a centimetre, but no amount of wriggling/combination of things will allow it to open.
99% certain its empty inside there too, as I used it to hold my Starbucks cup only the other day Anyone know how I might free it?
Thanks in advance,
Rich

t's a flat spring, not a normal coil one and you need to remove the entire thing and take it to bits to get the spring to clip back into place. It's fiddly but not complicated
As for why it has stuck partially open, could be the spring has jammed or it could be something under the cover that is stopping it opening all the way back.

Bugger, guess I know what's planned for this weekend then. Anyone got a diagram of how to take this thing apart without losing all the important bits?

Just take the gear knob off (loosen nut underneath, then unscrew knob). Then pull the whole plastic surround upwards, one section at a time to release the clips. It's only clipped down. You'll have to unplug the back of the switches (roof and rear screen heater), then you can take it out the car and sort the cubby hole problem.
