Default Charging battery while on holiday

As Im going away next week for a few weeks Im planning on fitting one of these to keep the battery topped up as my proximity sensor/chirp and alarm will probably drain it whilst not in use.

Has anyone on here used them before and do they work ok?

They may work in countries where the sun actually comes out.

They only need daylight apparently but the sun would work better

I've used a CTEK unit, but it's mains powered & not solar powered !

Remember to use it via the crocodile clips, as the cigarette lighter method won't work.

How long is your holiday? If it is less than a month, I wouldn't bother.

Thanks as I wasnt sure if that would work.

Only 3 weeks but my alarm tends to go off a lot as I get the local chavs peering into it and my proximity alarm either chirps or sets off the alarm and if Im away it will drive my neighbours nuts plus it will drain the battery.

Going to stick the hardtop on for peace of mind too.

I used a solar charger I built my self over the winter, the car was not touched for 6 months and the battery was perfect when required. As said previously it will last a month without a recharge.

Was it the same size as the Maplins one? Been considering one of these for our boat but was not convinced it would work very well.

Yes it was the same size just stuck it to a side window with the suction cups and to the battery with the clips worked perfect until I dropped it into the Marina
