Well, talking totally hypothetically and being of no help to Mr. Gaddafi whatsoever I am quite sure, but I would love a Lancia Stratos in my garage for bright, sunny days.

Saw one of those at Le Mans this year.

Much smaller than you expect.

Cheap Aston on ebay (but scroll down to see why, under the heading 'but now the bad bit').

I had an Integrale. Unreliable, temperamental, spent more time under the bonnet than in the driving seat, knew the RAC tow truck drivers by name but have never forgotten the drive.... I went from an X1/9 (fun to drive, but not exactly a snarling beast) to a 'grale and it blew me away. Unfortunately it blew away most of my savings and a good portion of my social life (it was my only car so I couldn't have it off the road for long).

As for modern classics I'd want to own - always fancied a big Bentley, also the Austin Healey 3000, saw one in the filling station the other day and it's a beautiful car. Also like the old Rover P6 with the V8. The previous incarnation of the Alfa Spyder with the V6 is pretty, but is a money pit. The ultimate affordable modern classic to me would be the Porsche 928 though, mint ones go for

[QUOTE=gaddafi,Sep 16 2004, 08:36 AM] Whilst the engines can go on and on, my experience is that other things break, and these are things that are exceptionally difficult to fix.

Examples being wipers, heaters and things like electric window motors.
