Golf GTI Mk2 16v - had one of these, nice car, but no power steering (it was damn heavy without !), as g/f at the time mostly drove it she 'got rid'

205 GTI 1.9 - real modern classic, brother has one of these in storage, great condition, tempted to buy it off him as a winter beater (ok, probably too good for that), just unfortunate image they now have puts me off, shame.

BMW M3 (1987 lhd) - brother also has one of these Again great car, still worth around 10k, zero depreciation is a bonus !

Not sure if the BMW Z8 is classed as a modern classic yet, but would be on my list -seem to be dropping in value quite fast now

Also, slightly further back in time, the Merc SL from the late 60's

Thats odd V8 Coupe
I've driven one of these - a manual. Heap of S**t. Car is so heavy that it needs a low rear axle ratio in order to accelerate quickly. It was doing close on 4,000 rpm at 85 which blows claims of 155mph top speed out of the water. The garage said they would fit a higher rear axle ratio FOC but I wasn't interested after the test drive.

The gear box was agricultural - not surprising given that David Brown once owned the company.
