Default Clay Bar Question

Will a clay bar remove tar spots? I've used bug and tar remover to remove the worst of it where it was concentrated (wheel arches, rear quarter) but little specks remain all over the car. Will a clay bar remove these? Will the tar quickly ruin the clay bar requiring me to have more than one to clay the whole car? Comments appreciated. It really isn't practical to treat the spots individually now as the are isolated but many!

Should do, although I found that Zymol would remove the smaller spots on application anyway.

I used to use Autoglym Tar Remover, but just use the Claybar now.

Oooh, sounds risky to paint! I once used a prototype thyokol (an industrial aircraft sealant) remover to get some off. It sure did work...along with the paint, it came off a treat!

That or a proprietary tar remover. Doesn't matter if it removes any previous polish layers as the claybar will certainly do that.

Also, don't mistake shoe scuffs on the door sills for tar spots. I had some and the tar remover wouldn't shift them. Turned out I just had to rub (quite hard) with a dry cloth.

yup it will work fine, you will need to use it with some lubricant such as a quick detailer, as the clay bar will also remove any polish and sealant currently on the car.
