Default clutch problems

i'm getting serious rattle on shifting between lower gears. i assume thats the clutch on the way out. ive got an 02 GT with 35K on the clock. how long should clutches last?

how much will a new one cost? any recommendations for place that can replace the clutch in west london?

I think i'm in the same boat, thought it was the bearings in the box to start with but after searching this site I noticed the clutch pressure plate can get really noisy... Need the upgraded 055 clutch kit or something?

Are you getting the noise mainly in the first 3 gears? and does it sound worse whilst on the overrun? It's hard trying to locate the source of the noise, one of the guys on here found out it was their oil filler cap which had come loose and fell off onto the transmission case!

I'm at 60k miles and I think it's the original clutch so i'm starting to believe this is where the problem is...

My 2003 had more than 80K miles on it when I sold it and there were no signs of the clutch being worn.

However, if a previous owner has been particularly brutal with it, it is possible that its on its way out, I guess...

If its an 02 then it probably has the original clutch and has never had the 055 TSB done when new or replaced since.

Mine has the same issues on over run and recently on the RPM's up through the first 3 gears. Its in at the moment getting a whole new clutch kit and service.

Tried to live with the noise over the past year but it actually does get on your nerves to the point you dont want to drive the car up through VTEC so bit the bullet and getting the whole lot done at my local dealership.

BTW... mine is a 02 with 37k on the clock. No signs of wear. Just a terrible noise.

Just had my 02 original clutch replaced at 98k miles. It was only a little noisy at low rpms.

Any recommendations for a decent aftermarket clutch? Honda want well over £500 for an OEM item! Will be looking to fit it myself, hope i'm not setting myself up for a massive headache!!
