Default Clutch replacement

Hi All,

What clutch kits are out there apart from the OEM TSB replacement that doesnt suffer from the buzz on <02's?

I am sure my buzz/vibration is clutch related after loads of research

Symptoms:

* Buzz at 5000-5500 rpms
* Only does it on de-celeration
* After giving it beans in VTEC for a period of time
* Doesnt do it in Neutral or when the clutch is pressed in
* Comes from behind the dash to the left of the stereo
* Doesnt do it from cold and only after a good run

Do the Exedy/ACT/F1 clutches all suffer the same noise?

Thanks in advance

AFAIK, the Exedy doesn't suffer from buzzing

Took me a while to get used to the buzz on mine...hardly notice it now.

Excellent. I was just trying to price up alternatives to the OEM replacement.

Thanks

If you've searched, you'll know that some clutch 'kits' do not include both the bearings that should be changed.

You should change the spigot (sometimes called flywheel) bearing, and the release bearing.

Sure, I've got a list of bits that need doing (4 parts for the clutch in total)

I just wanted to make sure if I was spending the money to replace it I wasn't replacing it with one that makes the noise. Its very loud on mine, the garage doesn't think it is the clutch and the engine mounts are getting done under warranty as they believe it is these, but I think it might be after the last few weeks of reading up!

(Obviously I will be waiting to see what the outcome is of the replacement mounts before anything else)

Phil - so the OEM updated clutch is quiet?

My OEM lasted 40k miles in my 04 (which came from the factory with the revised EDIT friction plate). It then started to buzz when driven vigorously and still does so at 81k miles - in fact it is getting worse.

A replacement OEM clutch won't buzz.

Honda found the problem and revised the springs in the clutch plate accordingly a long time ago. There was as TSB issued for it if you search.

Hi Lower,

I found this a while back and well aware, I was asking if there were any other types apart from thr OEM replacement as an alternative. This is to give me options on costs.

Cheers
