Default Clutch Slip

Firstly the car has only done 24k.

I was accelerating from a roundabout in to vtec in 2nd then straight into 3rd but the revs rose and then settled down again, I then came off the next slip road and tried again but this time from 1st in to 2nd and there was no slip, is it possible to slip between 2nd and 3rd but not 1st or 2nd or is my left leg just not fast enough?

There is more torque in 2nd to 3rd, so it is possible, but I would try again and see if you can replicate the problem.

With that low mileage I wouldn't have thought the clutch would be slipping already and could have been an isolated event and nothing to worry about! But see if you can get the car to do it again.

have you only had the car a little while?
when i first got mine i had this for a short time, mostly due to me trying to change gear as fast as i could. It pays to do it a little slower and be sure your left foot is completely off the clutch, cos thats what its most likely to be. After me having the car a month and using it a fair bit it hasnt done it since, even with me changing gear fast and probably still not coming off the clutch as quick. I think my car had been sat around for a while and needed driving to wear it in or something. Or maybe im more aware of getting off that clutch quicker, although i couldnt accelerate to hard with the revs high to start with either cos the clutch would just spin, but now its only the wheels that do!

Are you sure it's not the clutch delay valve thing kicking in?

Could well have been, it was quite a fast sharp change...

Sounds like the CDV to me. It's fairly easy to remove or fit a pre 04 slave cylinder.

I don't think you have a problem, other than being too quick on the gas and the CDV not helping.

If it's normal I won't worry then. But yes it was a hard, clutch in, 3rd, clutch out, foot down HARD change.
