my 2007 S has had the CEL show. it's solid & i don't want to reset before i've pulled the code. i got a cheap car-care one off ebay (i think a 480) & it shows 'link error'. can anyone tell me which code reader they've used successfully on their 2007 model?

Are you following the instructions? That usually means not

 

You bought the wrong reader the CAN spec is different on later cars, a CReader V will do the job

 

I'm having the same issue here 'linking error' using a U480 OBD II scanner with MY02.
Any recommendations for a working reader? I even read the manual!

 

I tried a U480 before I got the creader V, it was useless on my 56 plate and not much use on the guy next doors AUDI.
try an eBay search for "creader V" they only seem to come from China now so a bit of a wait.





Does some fancy stuff too.

 

I'm using one of these Link with my laptop.

Cheap and does the job, you can even get live data from the car.
