Default Cold Much?

Hi all,

I had a look at an 06 S today at a dealer, needs a few things sorted out, wheel refurb etc. i noticed though, when i sat inside the roof is quite thin (not sure what i was expecting really) but my question is whats it like in the winter, does it heat up quickly? Is there going to be icicles hanging off the dash or am i just being a big pansy?

Also, the was a slight tear in the roof of this example and you could see where a patch had been used to cover this up, is it a simple repair or is it more likely a new hood would be needed?

You are being a big pansy.
It gets hot in there - really quick.

Budget £800 for a new soft top.

Negotiate hard.

Edit - Is there any wear and tear visible from the outside?

Above the drivers head is where the S normally wears through. Some posts have been made on how to protect it from wearing. This patch could be in place as the first signs of wear. Download the FAQ manual - and see a pic of roof wear.
Is this patch in the same place?

The S has a furnace of a heater that warms up pretty quickly so there's no need to worry about being cold inside. You can also add heating elements to the seats for around £55 parts and fit them yourself. A hardtop makes it even more cosy, but I've never really used mine.

The hood is single skin vinyl rather than the double or triple layer in typically found in modern German cars, this keeps it nice and light. I'd be wanting the hood condition to be taken into account in the price of the car, or have a new hood fitted, especially buying from a dealer. Aftermarket hoods can be had from Monsoon for sensible money, think they're generally rated as being better than the Honda hood.

Monsoon are traders on here, and becoming a member of S2KUK means you'll get a very good quality hood fitted for just over £700. You'll get other discounts too

Follow Gaspode's advice before taking any drastic action though, and definitely read the FAQ...it's got alot of really useful advice.

Cold winter days, roof down heater on full
If it has had a rip already try to get it replaced under warranty if you can!
