Default Coolant

Hi,

I really cant remember when you should change it, is it every 60k? how often do folk on here change it?

IIRC the last time i changed it was roughly 3 year ago roughly around 26k ago.

Just thinking as I'm about to service the car soon, and coolant sprung to mind esp now since the car is now supercharged.

Cheers

More important with elevated liner temps mate.

I would change every 2yrs or so, or by 25k miles personally.
If up to big power, then add a water 'wetting' agent and swirl pot to reduce the gas content.

Thats what I'm thinking Steve

I have been monitoring temps seems to be around 84/86c most days.

Yes but that is a very 'averaged' temperature you see, and well damped.
The contact temperature with the cylinders could be far, far higher.
So you need to allow for that

Did mine when I changed to a more efficient rad, as Steve says plan on doing it every 3 years or so.

I understand how water wetter works, but TBH I'm dubious about using it on the S esp with the pre-mixed type 2 coolant honda uses.

IIRC it will raise the boiling point but contary to popular belief not alter running temp (stock switch&theromstat), could be useful for 'hot points'. I'm unsure if its overkill for a SC s2000 running 350bhp not used on a track.

Anyone used it?

I considered the water wetter but stuck with the OEM coolant.
No issues so far!
